Bhatinda zone: As per reports received here, the police seems to have finally caught up with gangster Davinder Bambiha. The gangster, who has managed to remain outside police net so far is now the target of a police operation. Bambiha has over 17 cases pending against him and is mainly active in the Malwa region.
The sharp shooter was earlier allegedly also involved in the shooting of Ravi Khwajke. His original name is Davinder Singh Sidhu and owing to his profession, he is also known as Davinder Shooter. This sharp shooter has his roots in Bambiha village of Moga district and comes to the same caste as his victim Ravi Khwajke (both Jats). Earlier, his area of operation was limited to the Malwa region but he has now spread his wings across the state with cases registered against him across the state. Police sources say that he charges Rs 3 to 4 lakhs for committing a murder and was hired by enemies of Ravi Khwajke to commit the murder.
His critics say that he enjoys political patronage and a lenient hand from the police. Otherwise, the police force is familiar with the deadly ‘encounter’ only too well. In the gory and vengeful criminal landscape of Punjab in the hinterlands, an individual like Bambiha is the most useful weapon. People in Punjab hinterlands generally take their revenge seriously. There are plenty of individuals who have some score or a slight to settle with enough money to go around. Coming from the prestigious Jat community, who value courage and daring more than anything else, Bambiha has many admirers and supporters.
He has time and again cocked a snook at the Punjab police. For instance, after the high-profile murder of Ravi Khwajke, this is the first time that police has got anywhere near him. Perhaps, pumped up by his infallibility, Bambiha is known to openly flaunt his exploits. Not so far back, he was maintaining a Facebook page where he showed off his collection of arms, inviting friends to choose one, exhorting people to Like his page, and even carried an advertisement to get your enemy killed for a payment of Rs 3 to 4 lakhs!
