Jalandhar: The latest in the series of such crimes, four robbers eloped with fifty thousand cash after breaking open ATM of Punjab & Sindh Bank in Madhopur village in Phagwara on Monday.
The police was informed of the incident on Monday morning. CCTV recording of the enclosure showed a time of 2:45 to 3:00 AM. Apparently a gas kit was used to open up the cash drawer.
The ATM robberies are becoming a routine in the Punjab hinterlands where robbers are getting better by the day in their techniques to splice open an ATM and loot the money in a short time. The lack of security in such isolated ATMs is making the job of the police difficult to check such incidents.
The Punjab police is till to solve a similar incident that took place four days back in the Sultanwind area of Amritsar where the robbers sprayed the CCTV camera before decamping with Rs 2.21 lakhs in cash.
