Gurdaspur: Unidentified struck at a school owned by a SAD leader in Gurdaspur and decamped Rs 12.17 lakh on intervening night of June 5 and 6. The burglars entered in the Guru Nanak School at Dera Baba Nanak after breaking the locks of the principal’s room and the school is owned by SAD leader and former speaker Nirmal Singh Khalon. However, the school is on summer vacations, whereas the school administration staff attends the school hours to wind up the administrative work. Soon after receiving the information the police reached at the spot and initiated the investigation. Investigating officer, DSP Rashpal Singh said that during the preliminary investigation it has come to fore that the salaries of the school staff was due and the stolen cash placed in principal’s room to clear the due salaries. Meanwhile, the police have called the finger print expert team at the spot to procure the evidence of the case.
