Chandigarh: After the controversy for the name of international airport triggered among Haryana and Punjab government, spokesperson of Punjab government Daljeet Singh Cheema said that Haryana CM was unnecessarily taking up the issue. While releasing the statement, Cheema said that it has been decided that international airport will be recognised by the name of Shaheed Bhagat Singh international airport.
Cheema said that the name Shaheed Bhagat Singh international airport was mutually decided by duo states without any objection.
As the international flight operations started from Chandigarh airport on Thursday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar took exception to the Punjab Government’s move over calling the airport ‘Mohali International Airport’ in its advertisements. In a strongly-worded letter to his Punjab counterpart Parkash Singh Badal, Khattar said he was “deeply anguished by the Punjab Government’s advertisement that appeared in various newspapers terming Chandigarh International Airport as Mohali International Airport”.
