Jalandhar: Following the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib, the publisher of printing press rounded up by the police, on Sunday. While addressing the media, Commissioner of Police, Arpit Shukla said that during the preliminary investigation it has come to fore that the holy book was published in 1987 by an Amritsar based printing press. He added that the suspects have been detained by Amritsar police and further Jalandhar police will questioned the owners of the printing press to verify their involvement in the case.
The alleged published has been identified as Jawahar Singh Kirpal Singh.
Shukla said that SGPC assisted them in their investigation and with the help they have detained publisher.
On Saturday, torn pages of Guru Granth Sahib recovered from a canal in Jalandhar. The ‘Angs’ of Guru Granth Sahib were spotted floating in drain type canal by two youths while going to Gurdwara.
Following the incident the Sikh community staged protest against the incident seeking immediate arrest of the accused responsible for the incident.
