Hoshiarpur: Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Monday lashed out at Aam Admi Party (AAP) National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and said that he was doing ‘politics of lie’ on crucial issue of SYL canal.
Majithia said that while Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal ensured that farmers got their land back at the SYL canal site, Kejriwal went against Punjab and rather supported his home state Haryana.
Majithia added that CM Badal led Punjab government went out of the way to support the farmers on the controversial issue of sharing river waters with Haryana in the SYL canal row.
“It is a matter of pride that CM Badal led Punjab government created a record of sorts by returning back 4261 acre of land of 21,511people of 202 villages on the SYL canal site”, he said, adding that people should vote for the SAD-BJP combine for third time in a row.
Addressing a gathering at Gilzian village in Hoshiarpur district, Majithia said that people of Punjab have made up their mind to show door to Kejriwal in the assembly elections. “The double standards of Kejriwal on the SYL canal has not gone down well with the people of Punjab, especially the farming community”, he added.
Majithia also cornered Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh on the SYL canal issue and said that his picture along with the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi published at that time in newspapers have exposed the lies of Congress.
“It is only SAD-BJP government, which has changed the face of Punjab during its two-decade long rule. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal not only envisioned a developing Punjab but also fulfilled his promises.
Today, Punjab is a power surplus state while Scheduled Castes (SC) and the farmers are getting free electricity in the state”, he highlighted.
On the upcoming four- laning project of Patiala-Bathinda, Majithia said that the roads will be constructed on the basis of German technology.
“A major achievement in Doaba region has been the upcoming Adampur airport, which will prove to be a big boon for the NRIs and the business class”, he said.
