Ludhiana: In yet another incident of loot, robbers decamped with about Rs.15 lakh cash after firing from a branch of Punjab National Bank at Kochhar Market in a broad daylight on Monday.
The bank premises is located in the busy area and on main road but the robbers managed to decamp with cash after firing in the peak hours in bank. However, no security guard was deputed by the bank and no bank official pressed emergency alarm for the help.
Following the information, Commissioner of Police, Jatinder Singh Aulakh along with a police party reached the spot and initiated investigation in the case.
The police have procured the CCTV footage which shows that four armed persons with covered faces entered in bank premises at 3.40 pm and took away cash within two minutes. The robbers also fired gunshot inside the bank premises and slapped one of the customers.
Later, the robbers took away bag containing Rs.15 lakh from the cashier and fled away. While moving out from the bank the accused also pushed a woman who was coming out from the ATM room.
BOX OFFICIAL SPEAKS Commissioner of Police, Jatinder Aulakh said that they have got CCTV footage and tracing the robbers. Appropriate action would be taken against the bank authorities for not deputing security guard and pressing alarm, he added.
Senior police officials reached spot and initiated investigation in case.
