Sangrur: Following the rape allegations against AAP observer Vijay Chauhan by AAP volunteers, the local police initiated the investigations in rape allegations. While talking to the media, SSP Sangrur Pritpal Singh Thind said that the police are trying to trace the rape victim and investigate the case thoroughly. He added that on the bases of facts the action will be taken accordingly.
Thind said that following the media reports of the press conference by AAP volunteers, the police have initiated the investigation into the matter. He added that according to the allegations the domestic help was allegedly raped in Dhuri that falls under their jurisdiction. Police have investigated the matter and after recording the statements of the victim the action will be taken accordingly.
On 6 Sept, youth president of AAP Sunam Ravinder Singh alleged that AAP observer Vijay Chauhan allegedly raped his domestic help. Meanwhile, they have released an audio clip claimed as substantial evidence of the rape case against Chauhan.
Besides this, Ravinder alleged that Sanjay Singh managed the case and pressurised the rape victim to arrive at a compromise by giving her Rs one lakh. He added that after the rape episode came to light, the party had transferred Vijay Chauhan to Patiala to avoid any other controversy.
Makkan Singh, another party volunteer from Sunam, said that they had informed the national leaders about the rape case, including Durgesh Pathak, but they remained mum on the issue. He added that instead of taking prompt action against the alleged accused, the party leaders ignored the issue.
