India boxing contingent saw their first loss after two days as Shiva Thapa was defeated by defending Olympics champion in the 56kg Robeisy Ramirez of Cuba.
Thapa had a bad start to the bout taking a few punches on the face even before he could settle down. Ramirez then sealed the round with a some quick punches in the end.
A better performance from Thapa in second round saw him strike Ramirez but the Cuban came back strongly winning the round by unanimous decision.
Earlier, Vikas Krishan and Manoj Kumar begin their Rio 2016 Olympics journey with a win in the first round win. While Vikas won his match in the 75kg category on Tuesday, Manoj won his 66kg match on Wednesday. Vikas and Manoj are the only two boxers remaining in the draw for India.
