Chandigarh: President of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) Simranjit Singh Mann has filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking issuance of directions to the respondents and the State of Punjab for granting permission to the petitioner to hold Sarbat Khalasa on November 10. He said in his petition that the Sarbat Khalsa would be held at Nat Road, near Sue. This piece of land is owned by Harpal Singh son of Charanpal Singh of Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda where the Sarbat Khalsa will be held, the SAD (Amritsar) president said in his petition. He had further prayed in the petition that condition regarding advance notice to the respondents may also be dispensed with.
Others who have been made party in the petition are Director General of Police, Chandigarh, Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda, SSP Bathinda, SDM Talwandi Sabo and the SHO of Talwandi Sabo police station.
Counsels for the petitioner Ranjan Lakhanpal and Ashu Kaushik confirmed that a petition has been filed and hoped that it would come up for hearing soon.
The petitioner said that request was made in writing to the Deputy Commissioner Bathinda on October 24. Apart from this letter, he also made representations to the authorities concerned in this regard later, said the president of the SAD (Amritsar)in his petition.
