New Delhi: A day after the Punjab government has de-notified the land acquired for SYL canal, Supreme Court turned down the plea of Haryana seeking stay on de-notified of acquired land. The case will come up on Nov 21 for the next date of hearing.
Former union law minister and senior advocate Ram Jethmalani opposed the stay sought by Haryana on the move of Badal Government to bury the SYL project. On the other hand, Ram Jethmalani contested the claim of Haryana and said that Punjab Cabinet has the full executive powers to take such decisions.
However, accepting the plea of urgent hearing of the case was listed for Monday , November 21, 2016 .
Haryana said the issue had become “explosive” in the wake of the resolutions adopted in the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday and a Cabinet decision taken to de-notify the land acquired for the construction of SYL in the Punjab area.
