Chandigarh: It was an unfortunate moment for Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal, when the supreme court plunged the Punjab government’s plea for halting the construction of SYL canal. The decision landed against the Punjab government and in favour of Haryana government, when chief ministers of both the states were sharing the stage in a function at Chandigarh.
However, Parkash Singh Badal refused clearing his stand on SC verdict, when media flooded their questions outside the venue. While talking to media, Badal said that this is not the place to speak something regarding the SYL canal issue. He further invited the media to his residence or office for his appropriate statement.
On the other hand, Haryana CM ML Khattar welcomed the decision of SC and said that Haryana state deserved the water of SYL canal that was signed long back. He hailed the Supreme Court’s decision declaring as unconstitutional the Punjab government’s law to terminate a water-sharing agreement with other states by constructing the Satluj-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal on its territory.
