New Delhi: Private sector Axis Bank today announced the launch of Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) based billing for select utility payouts.
Axis Bank and the nodal agency to operate the integrated bill payment system National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) said initially select services like electricity, gas, telephone and DTH will be covered.
It will provide customers a single window to pay bills and track payments, Axis Bank said in a release.
The BBPS facility offers interoperable and accessible bill payment service to customers and instant confirmation of payment.
“Currently, the service would be available to customers in select branches which would be expanded in a phased manner,” it said.
Customers would subsequently be able to pay their bills across different channels such as internet banking and mobile banking, it added.
BBPS is expected to encompass a wide range of billers across different categories all over India, as per regulatory approvals. PTI
