Chandigarh: The Narcotics Control Bureau of Chandigarh unit have arrested a person while he was possessing 1.600 kilograms of Charas at his residence.
This is the 28th seizure by NCB Chandigarh during this year.
According to officials, the accused has been identified as Deen Mohammad Tehsil Saluni, District Chamba (Himachal Pradesh).
An official said that team had received information that this person is involved in drug smuggling and supplying Charas in Punjab region especially in Ludhiana area.
Accordingly NCB team has conducted a raid in the house of Kastori Lal House number 165, Pink Vihar, Chhauni Mohalla, Salem Tabri, Ludhiana (Punjab).
On house search, a carrying bag in which the seized contraband kept was recovered and arrested the accused person.
To curb the illicit use and trafficking of narcotics drugs in the State of Punjab, NCB is trying to identify the drug syndicate running in Punjab region, which has connection with the drug smugglers of Himachal Pradesh.
During the year 2016 NCB Chandigarh has seized 36.610 kilograms of Charas and 26 persons were arrested.
