A day after Chandigarh Police booked two unknown persons for allegedly raping 21-year- old girl, UT police on Wednesday released the sketch of prime accused and declared Rs 50,000 reward for the informer.
Satish Kumar, DSP East said, “We have released the sketch of the accused and informed also announced reward to the informer. Meanwhile we are conducting raids to arrest the accused”, said DSP.
According to police, a 21-year-old call centre employee was allegedly raped by an auto driver at knife point in Sector 29 forest area. The incident took place at around 8:30 pm at jungle area of Industrial area after victim had hired an auto from the road dividing Sectors 34 and 21 on Dakshin Marg to reach Hallo Majra around 8 pm.
The auto driver and his accomplice were heading towards Tribune Chowk when the victim hired the auto to reach home.
The victim has stated to police that there were only two persons in the auto, including auto driver. The accused took the auto on slip road towards Sector 29 and stopped the auto on the roadside. The victim tried to raise the alarm, but the accused managed to take her to the forest where she was raped.
The preliminary investigation of Police reveals that the accused auto driver fled from the spot while his accomplice walked along with the victim to the bus stop on the Ambala road next to Tribune Chowk. The victim then hired another auto.
The accused kept on threatening the victim while walking with her to the bus stop and fled from there after she took an auto, said police sources. The victim narrated the entire incident to her mother who then approached the police on Wednesday morning.
The Police have registered a case against unknown persons at the Industrial Area police station.
Victim recalls name of one of the accused
The victim by chance recalled name of one of the accused. The victim has told the police she has managed to recall name of one of the accused as the duo were calling each other with the name.
