Chandigarh: Disturbed over unwanted intervention by a youth in her life, a 23-year-old student studying at Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management Sector 42, ended her life by hanging self from ceiling fan here on Wednesday morning. A youth, former student and college mate of the victim has been booked for abetment to suicide in the matter, said police.
According to police, the victim has been identified as Abhijit Kaur, a final year student of Hotel Management at Sector 42 College, Chandigarh.
Police sources said that the incident came to light on Wednesday morning, as college staff informed the police. The police reached the spot and rushed the victim to Government Multi Specialty Hospital 16 where duty doctors declared her brought dead.
Sources said that the victim had got engaged few months back and was about to get married in December this year. But, a youth names Mohammad Nishad, who is the former student of college and batch mate of victim was troubling her after she got engaged. The accused started disturbing the victim following which she narrated the matter to her family who then informed the police.
Acting on this, police summoned Mohammad Nishaad and his father Anish Ansari to police station. The father of the accused assured in written that his son will not trouble girl in future. When the victim came to knew about this, she went into depression and hanged herself at hostel room. Police sources said that both Mohammad Nishad and his father Anish Ansari have been booked for abetting victim to commit suicide under Sections 306 of IPC.
