Chandigarh: More than four days after 25-year-old woman Rajni was killed after she reportedly fell from an auto-rickshaw under mysterious circumstances on the stretch between Tribune Chowk and Hallomajra Chowk (Poultry Chowk) on Monday late night, the police have till date failed to trace the auto-rickshaw and its driver.
Rajni was residing in Behlana, Chandigarh, with her husband Erric Masih (26), a taxi driver, and her in-laws. She worked as a sales girl at Tanishq Jewellery store in Phase 3B1, SAS Nagar. The police said that Rajni was dropped in Sector 45 by her friend on a scooter from where she boarded an auto to go home.
She sustained head injuries and was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32 (GMCH-32), where doctors declared her brought dead. However, Rajni’s husband Erric has refused to buy the police theory that it was an accident and his wife fell from the autorickshaw.
Meanwhile, the report of the GMCH-32 submitted to the police on Thursday, ruled out the murder.
The report said that she had died of skull fracture. However, the viscera report is awaited. According to the report, no injury marks were found on the body and also no physical or sexual assault has been
The family members of Rajni want further investigation into the case. Unsatisfied with the police report, Erric and his family members warned of setting all autorickshaws on fire, if the autos cross the murder spot.
Rajni’s sister Manjeet said, “It clearly shows that the police have no interest to investigate the case. They conveniently want to close the case terming the murder as an accident.”
SHO Sector 31 police station Jaswinder Kaur said, “As per the post-mortem report, the death was caused by skull fracture.
