Chandigarh: Identifying every angle to ensure their best arrangements for tackling any untoward activity, the Chandigarh Police will conduct mock drills which will continue for around 20-25 days in the city.
Sukhchain Singh Gill, SSP, Chandigarh Police said, “To ensure full preparedness for any sudden untoward activity, we have planned to conduct mock drills in the city which will continue for around 20-25 days. A total number of 62 places have been identified. The mock drills will be conducted to check if there is any shortcomings and if there are found any, these will be rectified and sorted out accordingly”, added the SSP.
Meanwhile, another mock drill was conducted at Rock Garden on Saturday morning. A call of bomb scare was reported at around 11.15 am and following this, immediately the police teams were dispatched to the spot. More than 200 police personnel were involved in the job and the alerts were sounded through Chandigarh Police Control Room. According to the sources, a bomb threat mock exercise was conducted at the three places to check the level of preparedness of the Police, Health and Fire Departments.
Following the call, the concerned officials were then alerted by the Police Control Room about the threat. The message was passed to the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee as well. After the announcement made about the bomb threat, everybody present in the area were evenly asked to evacuate the area and move to a safe distance. The concerned officials reached the spot immediately and traced the ‘bomb’ in the rock garden and carried out the requisite drill.
