Chandigarh: High drama was witnessed at Chandigarh railway station in the evening on Tuesday, when a sealed abandoned box found at platform number 2 spread panic. Bomb detection and dog squad was pressed into action. However, the box was found containing medicines left by some passenger, said Railway Protection Force, SHO, G S Waraich.
Waraich said that it was around 5:30 pm when RPF learnt about one abandoned box laying at platform number 2. Acting swiftly, RPF officials following the orders of Senior Divisional Security Officer, RPF Kamaljit Brar, the box was removed to the secluded place at platform number 6.
The bomb disposal squad then inspected the box thoroughly and on opening it RPF discovered that it was full of medicines. The box has been sent to the laboratory for further examination.
Waraich said, “We had immediately removed the box to the secluded place at platform number 6 as platform number 2 was thickly populated. Bomb squad then examined the box which was opened and found containing medicines. The exercise took over one hour.”
