Chandigarh: City girl Arushi Jain has brought laurels by bagging rank 10 in the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) entrance exams, the results of which were declared here on Tuesday. Arushi is the Tricity topper in AIIMS.
Second spot in Tricity has been bagged by Japnoor Kaur with rank 32. Two students from the city, Tanish Modi (rank 68) and Mukund Garg (rank 69) have figured among the top 100 rank holders of the country. Tanish Gupta from the city has scored a rank of 163. Other students from neighbourhood who took coaching in city to figure among the top 100 include Gurasees Boparai (rank 28) from Patiala, Shivam Singla (rank 37), and Sifatjot Singh (rank 67) from Patiala a resident of Rajpura.
Daughter of SDO in irrigation department of Punjab Jaspal Ram and Hindi teacher, Arushi always dreamt of becoming a doctor since her childhood. “I’m ecstatic. My dream of becoming a paediatrician will now be fulfilled,” said Arushi, who says her brother Mohit is her inspiration.
He is currently studying at IIT. Japnoor on the other hand, wants to do research in genetics and says the secret to her success is to never take stress and remain focused on studies at all times. Daughter of PWD employee Manmeet Singh and LIC employee Ravinderjeet Kaur, Japnoor Kaur says her inspiration is her sister who is currently pursuing her internship at AIIMS, Delhi.
A resident of Sector 43, Japnoor had topped Shishu Niketan School, Sector 43, in medical stream in Class XII Board exams with 94.4 per cent marks. AIIMS MBBS 2016 entrance examination was conducted on May 29 this year for admission to as many as 672 MBBS seats in seven AIIMS. The score of the entrance will be the basis for admission to the MBBS course at AIIMS, New Delhi, and six other AIIMS at Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur, Rishikesh and Bhubaneswar.
