Air India Express, subsidiary of Air India jumps ahead of the other carriers to have declared its first international flight from Chandigarh International Airport which is slated for September 15.
Air India Express will be the first one to operate direct flight from Chandigarh International Airport to Sharjah, said Sunder. The flight will be operated thrice a week, on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
First international flight will arrive from Sharjah on September 15 at 17:15 pm (IST) and will take off to Sharjah at 18:15 pm (IST) from Chandigarh airport. Air India Express will operate 180 seater Boing 737-800 aircraft with economy class fare tickets, said Yogesh Mundhwa, CEO Commercials.
Duty free fuel leads to low int’l fares
Low Cost Airliners (LCA) have introduced low fares for international flights as compared to that of domestic route fares. The reason behind this is that LCA’s are getting duty free fuel to operate internationally. Whereas Indian government levy import duty on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) which increases cost of fuel, said K Shyam Sunder.
