Panchkula:The promise of Health Department to provide better facilities in Panchkula district seem to be falling apart. On one hand the department claims of spending crores of rupees for providing proper facilities and medicines to residents but in reality even doctors are hard to find in health centres.
A reality check at health centre in Ramgarh gives a bleak picture. On an average 25 women visit the th health centre at Ramgarh on daily basis, but the medicines including iron and calcium are out of stock on regular basis.
The patients informed that there has been no doctor and only an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) is giving them medicines. Also some stocks of essential medicines are not at health centre and it is the same story throughout the district.
Pregnant women visiting the centre have to return back as there is no specialized doctor. Other than this, the infrastructure at centre is also miserable with rooms in dilapidated conditions.
Dr Arun, in-charge of Primary Health Centre, village Kot, said, ‘I used to visit the health centre at Ramgarh once in a month. There is no shortage of medicines and we have sufficient stock. At the centre, there is a post of ANM only and no post of doctor is sanctioned there.’’
