Dera Bassi: A youth sustained bullet injuries when a group of four armed youths opened fired at him in Haripur Kuran village on Wednesday. The injured has been identified as Dalbir Singh (25), resident of Mehmadpur village near Dera Bassi. The victim was rushed to Civil hospital, Dera Bassi from where he was further referred to PGI, Chandigarh.
According to information, firing incident took place around 12:45 pm when Dalbir Singh went to meet his friend at village Haripur Kuran near Dera Bassi. As he was returning back in his Alto car, a group of four armed youths in Figo car intercepted him and started firing indiscriminately.
Dalbir Singh sustained three bullet injuries following which he was rushed to Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi where doctors referred him to PGI, Chandigarh.
Police have recovered an empty pistol which they think Dalbir Singh might have used. The police also recovered three shells and one live cartridge from the site. When contacted Deepinder Singh, SHO said that old enmity between two groups is stated to be the reason behind shooting incident.
SHO, further said that Dalbir Singh suffered three bullet injuries on his arm. He added that they are yet to record the victim’s statement as his condition is still critical.
It is pertinent to mention that Dalbir Singh had a narrow escape on the night of August 13 when a dozen armed youths opened fire at him on Issapur road, near railway crossing at Dera Bassi. Dalbir Singh is a complainant in the case in which police have registered cross FIRs of attempt to murder against two dozen persons.
