Chandigarh: Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator, V P Singh Badnore paid visit to U T Secretariat on Tuesday. Badnore after inspecting the renovation work of his office, called for a meeting with all the senior officers of the Administration and discussed on the current status of Solar Power Project and Vintage Car and Bikers Rally which is part of celebrations of World Tourism week and will kick off from September 22 to September 27.
During his visit he reviewed the current status of Dengue and Chikungunya cases in the city. Dr Vanita Gupta, Director Health Services discussed in detail about recent cases of Dengue and Chikungunya in the city.
Administrator further directed the civic body as well as the Health Department to ensure that necessary measures are taken to ensure the safety of the residents in the city along with mopping operations as well as fumigation to be done in especially those areas where most cases of these diseases have been detected.
Administrator flags off E-water ATM vans
V P Singh Badnore launched Smart public drinking water system in Chandigarh with flagging off E-water ATM vans at Punjab Raj Bhawan, here on Tuesday. M P Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor, Mayor of Chandigarh Arun Sood and B Purushartha, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation were also present during flagging off ceremony.
During ceremony, the Governor said that the model is based on a simple fundamental principal of having access to pure and affordable water at the dense crowded places like, bus stop, hospitals, court complex, tourist places, railway station, market places, a model through which Water can be served in a complete automated system monitoring all the safety and standards of drinking water without using plastic as a support system which is currently in fashion & thousands of bottled water companies are in the market to fulfill the need of drinking water on the streets, this Smart Public Drinking Water System in the future can be a best solution based on eco-friendly and technology operated system in a simple way, which operates on multiple payment option like coin/card/mobile app etc. for user convenience.
He said that the technology is devised specifically for smart and dense city like Chandigarh, to help in reducing the carbon foot print effectively by discouraging the consumption of use and throw plastic bottles, plastic pouches and plastic glasses.
While sharing information about the features of e Water ATM, Arun Sood, Mayor of Chandigarh said that automatic mobile chilled water dispensing will serve water in bio-degradable paper glasses at rate of 2 Rs, 250 ml and Rs 5 for 1 litre without container in all the major locations in Chandigarh. The project will start at 7 locations.
