Anandpur Sahib, February 28: Hola Mohalla festival is on its extreme. This time the command of management of festival is in the hands of youths as well as religious organisations under the observation of Civil and Police Administration. After a very long time, the festival seems beggar-free as the volunteers have been assigned the duty to keep the beggar away from the celebrations. Earlier, the baggers were brought in trucks and trains as begging-business purpose. Festival is hi-tech this time as to keep vigil the CCTV cameras; mobile app, Pollution control system etc. have been provided. Even the SGPC have arranged free insurance scheme for devotees in the condition of any mishappening around the 20 km of Gurdwaras.
Hola Mohalla is a big festive event for Sikhs around the world and also marks the beginning of the Sikh New Year. The three-day Hola Mohalla celebrations coincide with the Hindu festival of Holi. It was at this shrine that the 10th Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh had in 1699 baptized five men and founded the Khalsa Panth, which is the modern-day Sikh religion. Festival is celebrated in various Gurudwaras around the main Gurudwara. The three days celebrations have been started at Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahih from today.
Talking to Daily Post, the Manager of Takhat Kesgarh Sahib, Ranjit Singh told that around 30 lacs devotees across the country and from abroad will participate till March 4 to take part in the festival. He told that to compensate with any mis-happening, the SGPC has arranged insurance for whole devotees from February 26 to March 4.He told that last year too, the committee had made insurance arrangements and Rs one lac each to the five families of victims had been handed over. He told that special attention has been given towards cleanliness and devotees have been asked not to throw any langar residue, here and there. It has been advised not to use any type of colours during ‘Shobha-Yatra’and flowers leafs has been suggested instead of colours.
Low voice density speakers were being used in congregations and other places. Deputy Commissioner Kumar Rahul is holding meetings to review the arrangements. A mobile app for festival namely’Hola Mohalla Suvidha’ has been launched, in which each and every information is available like Langar places, toilets, help desk, control room, health services, Ambulance, parking, civil and police control room, distance from one to another place in the area, is mentioned in Punjabi as well in English.
SSP of district, Raj Bachan Singh, while talking to Daily Post, told that the police has been deputed outskirt area mainly and Nakas were stalled to prevent hooliganism of youth such as fire sound from Bullet motor-cycle. He told that 5500 youths, boys and girls have been deputed as volunteers to control the traffic and special jackets, whistles, traffic bands and I cards have been provided them. He also told that some traffic challans have been done, who were violating rules. Each and every event is being uploaded on Facebook and YouTube.
