Chandigarh: For the first time, Bihari and Kashmiri cuisine will be at the city beautiful in the Crafts Mela being organised by Kalagram. With these new introductions, food from the entire country is ready to entice the taste buds of the denizens of Chandigarh.
The main attraction this year is the Rajasthani stall which is living to the expectation of the theme of this year’s event. This year the theme of the Mela is Rajasthan. To enjoy the food from Rajasthan in the budget, one can go for Rs 200 a thali. In the thali, Choorma, Bhati, Haloowa, Gate Sabji will be served with chutteny of garlic. And this all is cooked in the traditional style and that too with Deshi Ghee.
The thali concept has also been adopted by the Gujarat stall. They too are serving the thali for Rs 200. In the Gujarati thali, food lovers can enjoy Fafda, Dhokla, Khichdi, Undiya ki sabji (a mix veg dish) and Khaman.
For non-veg lovers, Kashmiri stall has brought different types of Kashmiri mutton to the Mela. Rishta, Gustaba, Roghan Josh, Kofta and Kabab will fill your mouth with water. A wholesome diet can be enjoyed under Rs 300. The preparation of the mutton takes place in the authentic Kashmiri way. First the meat is struck with a wooden hammer and then only the meat balls for Rishta and Gustaba are prepared,” said Najeeb, stall owner.
CITCO has also set up its stall. They are trying to lure people by the high quality for which they are known in the city. “We are providing best food at genuine rates,” said Gopal Khatke, chef of CITCO. HE also said that it was only because of their genuine rates that other stalls have reduced the rate of their food. Other attractions are the stall of Uttar Prades, Hyderabadi Brayani and South Indian food. People of the city who want to taste the traditional food of Punjab can also visit this year’s fair.
