Chandigarh : Acting quickly after the security failure at Nabha jail, the Model jail Burail authorities have decided to enhance the security arrangements by increasing the number of CCTV’s and restricting the entry to the jail from the main gate.
According to sources from Model jail, a special meeting reviewing the security arrangements was conducted involving the senior authorities.
The immediate meeting to review and better the security arrangements was called following the jail break at Nabha jail in which two terrorists including the “chief” of Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) Harminder Singh, alias Mintoo and four other dreaded criminals on Sunday.
No vehicle zone from main gate for half kilometer
An official told that the entry from the main gate of the jail will be restricted and vehicle of staff and authorities will be permitted to enter only through a sticker which will be pasted on the vehicle.
While the entry for the visitor at the prison will be made only through e-rickshaws. The visitors can use e-rickshaws and come inside the jail to meet their relatives in prison.
Locks of barracks to be replaced, CCTVs to be increasedAccording to sources, the locks put on the barracks at the Model jail will be changed with the new ones to reduce the probability of any untoward activity.
Apart from this, the authorities have decided to increase the number of Close Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) at the jail premises. At present, the Jail have 35 CCTV cameras set up, which will now be increased to 65 CCTV cameras to keep close vigil over the activities in the jail.
Drones to be purchased for full view of jail The jail officials have also decided to purchase drones for upgrading the security at the jail. The jail authorities have already tested drones over the jail but now have planned to purchase the drones to get every bit of the jail premises.
