Chandigarh: UT Administration has initiated the process of retrofitting of 344 bus queue shelters in the city. The Engineering Department is all set to float tenders for repair, maintenance and advertisements for bus queue shelters. Administration has decided to maintain original form of brick structure.
In all there are 167 existing shelters which will be retrofitted and 177 shelters will be constructed. UT will be spending Rs 22 crore which will be fetched back from outsourcing such shelters to advertising agencies. UT Engineering Department officer said that advertising rates will be applicable as per set norms of MC advertisement rules.
The decision was taken during high level meeting of Engineering Department in which tenders have been finalized, said Executive Engineer of UT Engineering Department. The tenders will be floated within this week. Secretary Finance, Sarvjit Singh directed Engineering Department to scrap the survey of 114 toilets and re-conduct the survey of all 167 existing toilets as well as site of 177 toilets to be constructed.Sarvjit said that survey must be completed at earliest so that the work may be initiated within next month. He said that UT will maintain brick structure as designed as heritage structure.
