Chandigarh: Central Bureau of Investigation arrested head constable posted at sector 45 police post for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a resident of Burail, on Monday night. The head constable has been identified as Parveen Kumar.
The arrests were made at the Burail police post by CBI and cops were caught rend handed for taking bribe from Jeet Singh(complainant).
Our sources confirmed that another constable identified as Karamvir Singh might also be involved. According to the complainant Jeet singh, earlier also he gave a bribe of Rs 13,500 to Parveen kumar.
Jeet Singh a resident of Burail alleged that Parveen kumar from a long time had been blackmailing him for registering false gambling case against him.
According to the information given by CBI officials, complainant alleged that few days’ back Parveen Kumar called Jeet Singh in police post and threatened to registered a fake gambling complaint and asked for Rs 10,000 as a bribe to set him free.
As money was to be given on Monday, CBI officials laid a trap at police post and asked Jeet Singh to take the asked amount.
Jeet Singh reached police post according to the plan and handed money to Parveen Kumar. CBI team caught the constable red handed with currency notes.
A case under Section 7, of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was later registered on the basis of a written complaint lodged by Jeet Singh. The accused will be produced in court on Tuesday.
