Chandigarh:The Chandigarh Police will now connect the CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems), a handy project with the police stations, with prisons and court.
Giving information regarding the same, Tajinder Singh Luthra, IGP, UT Police, said, “As per guidelines of the Supreme Court, the CCTNS project would be linked with Model Jail at Burail and the local court.
The CCTNS is a programme in which every detail of a case involving the accused is updated online. Connecting the CCTNS with the jail and district court, a cop will evenly get to know the status of every case in the court so that details of any accused in a particular case can be accessed, said the IGP.
According to the police, the CCTNS project aims at creating a comprehensive and integrated system for enhancing the efficiency and effective policing at all levels and especially at the police station level, including citizen services which are the integral part of the CCTNS project. The CCTNS project envisions to create services that can be availed directly by the citizens through the nearest available mode such as Internet, police station, etc.
The CCTNS project also facilitates the citizens as in Chandigarh presently services of accidental report, lost article reporting system, police clearance certificate, FIR downloading links, etc. are also available for the citizens which have been included in the portal. Citizens can access the portal at http:/citizenportal.chandigarhpolice.gov.in/.
The Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) is a scheme conceived in the light of experience of a non-plan scheme, namely Common Integrated Police Application (CIPA). The CCTNS is a mission mode project under the national e-governance plan of the Government of India. The CCTNS aims at creating a comprehensive and integrated system for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of policing through adopting the principle of e-governance and creation of a nationwide networking infrastructure for evolution of IT-enabled state-of-the-art tracking system around ‘’investigation of crime and detection of criminals’’.
