Rs 150 crore sanctioned for Kajauli water works; Rs 69 crore for Smart City
Chandigarh: The Government of India has sanctioned Rs 345 crores under non-planned budget head for the city. Also the government has sanctioned Rs 150 crore for Kajauli Water works. This was stated by Member Parliament Kirron Kher on Saturday.
In her official statement Kher stated that she had made strenuous efforts by holding several meetings with the Union Minister of Finance and Secretary Expenditure, finally convinced them for providing additional funds to undertake and complete the pending works.
Kher said that an amount of Rs 150 crore has sanctioned for Kajauli Water Works out of which Rs 100 Crore will be released this year, and the balance of Rs 50 Crore in the next financial year. The work will be completed by March 2018.
Government of India has also approved non-plan budget amounting to Rs 345 crore for this year. It will cater the requirement to clear the back log for the land acquisition and electricity procurements.
An amount of Rs 69 crore has been granted to carry out Smart City Projects through Ministry of Urban Development and Rs 100 Crore will be made available by the next financial year.
Kirron Kher said, “The additional funds have been approved by the Union Minister of Finance for Chandigarh and I assure the residents of Chandigarh that I will not leave any stone unturned, so far as the development of Chandigarh is concerned.”
She also appealed the Chandigarh Administration to fully utilize the budget this year so that the pending works could be completed rather than surrendering the unutilized budget like previous years.
