UT finalises company to complete work on Urban Park within one year
Chandigarh: The UT Administration has finalised the company to carry out the work for developing Urban Park in Sector 17. The name of Vasu Constructions, the company which has constructed the new block of the Municipal Corporation (MC) building, was finalised on Thursday.
Urban Park will be developed at ane approximate cost of Rs 13.5 crore and will be developed on the pattern of Hyde Park of London. The vacant land measuring 9.21 acres next to Football Stadium will be converted into Urban Park.
An official of the Engineering Department said, “Vasu Constructions has been allotted the project for the development of Urban Park. The company has been given a deadline of one year for the completion of the park. The park will be developed on a total area of 9.21 acres at a cost of Rs 13.5 crore.”
The company is all set to start the work in February. The officer said the idea was to attract more residents to Sector 17 where residents and tourists could enjoy recreational activities.
The park will host food courts with designing of landscaping, cycle tracks, parking, LED lighting and architecture conservation. The park will also have games for children.
“The park will have a walking track inside.
The mud to be used for landscaping will be taken out of the Football Stadium which will be dug up to around 1.5 feet and the facelift of the stadium will also be covered under the project,” said the officer. The overall development of Sector 17 is part of the Smart City project.
