In a bid to scale up preparations for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP, Congress and AAP leaders in city have started organising public meetings in the colonies to woo large chunk of voters living in slums areas of the city. On Sunday, speaking at the public meetings as BJP city Chief Sanjay Tandon parsing his party’s work asked the voters to vote for them, while both Congress and AAP leaders, Pawan Bansal and Harmohan Dhawan criticised BJP for putting a roadblock in the development of the villages by ignoring the villages for everything. In the series of public meeting held in sector 52 and Ramdarbar, which were part of BJP campaign to reach out to the people of Chandigarh for the upcoming elections, Sanjay addressed the local residents and described how the BJP has truly lived up to their vision ‘sub ka saath, sub ka vikas’, and demanded their support in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. “We need to spread awareness of the work done by the government to everyone and let the people know how they are benefitting.
He then appealed for the support of the people in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections,” said Tandon. Earlier, Local MP and former railways minister, Pawan Kumar Bansal while attending a programme organised by Chandigarh district congress committee (villages) said that BJP had taken the villages under Municipal Corporation unconstitutionally. Telling about the positive move of the Congress when he was voted to power as an MP of Chandigarh, Bansal said, “I did not allow administration to touch a single building which has been constructed out of redline during my tenure for sake of village development.” Later, the Chandigarh Aam Aadmi Party’s Lok Sabha candidate Harmohan Dhawan with an aim to connect with the voters met 1000 booth delegates of 22 villages of Chandigarh. In the meeting, that was organized at the Dhawan’s residence, discussed the elections strategy of the micro level. Addressing meeting the former Union Minister Harmohan Dhawan said, “If the people in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections posed their confidence in me, Aam Aadmi Party will restore the original status of the Panchayat in the city, which the BJP government is trying to abolish.”

Blaming BJP for defrauded with the dreams of the villagers, both Former Union Ministers Pawan Bansal and Harmohan Dhawan said that BJP had taken the Chandigarh villages under Municipal Corporation unconstitutionally and BJP mislead the sarpanches by saying falsely that the villages will be developed under MC. “If Congress comes to power, a single building out of limits of red line will not be demolished,” said Pawan Bansal. While, ensuring the same, Harmohan Dhawan said, “Aam Aadmi Party will not let any House demolished which are outside the Lal Dora. In all the advisory committees of the administration, the villages will get their due representation.”
