Chandigarh : The number of dengue and chikungunya cases in city is on rising. In a statement issued by the malaria wing of the UT health department on Wednesday three fresh cases of Dengue have been reported from various health institutions that bring the total number of Dengue cases to 844 in the city. Meanwhile, with this, five fresh cases of Chikungunya have also been reported on Wednesday, all from Chandigarh. Out of which all are from Chandigarh. The overall details of 242 cases of Chikungunya detected in Chandigarh is; 45 imported, 53 wrong address and 144 from Chandigarh.
While, every day, the department is trying to strengthen the preventive activities by doing daily fumigation is being carried out along with strengthening of field activities which includes mass awareness, checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources. Besides, the free Dengue testing facility is available at Department of Virology, PGIMER Chandigarh, Department of Microbiology GMCH-32, GMSH-16 and District Priority Lab (IDSP) at Civil Hospital Manimajra.DP
