Chandigarh: In a major development in the UT teachers recruitment scam, the Chandigarh Police is finally going to bring the key accused R K Singh and Sanjay Kumar to Chandigarh on production warrants. At present, both the accused are lodged in Patiala jail.
Other than the recruitment scam, both accused are allegedly involved in the Vyapam scam of Madhya Pradesh, Telangana medical paper leak of 2016, and Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation (PUNSUP) paper leak of 2015.
They were recently held by the Telangana police in connection with the paper leak of the engineering, agriculture and medical common entrance test (EAMCET). The SAS Nagar police also brought the accused on production warrant last month in regard to their involvement in PUNSUP paper leak. “They are the key accused and the alleged middlemen in the recruitment scam. Their involvement was revealed by another key accused in the case Brijender Nain. The accused allegedly arranged question papers for the beneficiaries in lieu of a hefty amount.
We are going to bring them on production warrants as their custody is crucial to nab the mastermind Mithilesh Pandey,” said a senior police officer. On July 29, the UT police had registered the first information report (FIR) in a case of alleged leak of question papers of selection tests in January and February for recruitment of 1,150 junior basic training (JBT), trained graduate teachers (TGTs) and nursery training teachers (NTTs). The tests were held at Panjab University. The Punjab Vigilance Bureau had unearthed the scam with the arrest of Dinesh Yadav and had written to the Chandigarh Education Secretary and the Inspector-General of Police to register a case. DP
