A TEAM COMPRISING RAILWAYS OFFICIALS INSPECTED THE FACILITIES FOR PASSENGERS AND IT WAS FOUND THAT THE RAILWAY STATION LACKS BASIC AMENITIES
Chairman, PSC Railway Board, Ramesh Chandra inspected the Chandigarh Railway Station on Wednesday and found so many loopholes in the system. A team comprising railways officials inspected the facilities for passengers and it was found that the railway station lacks basic amenities. Even the water purifier machine was not in a good condition and the walls were also in a bad state. The chairman also visited the medical room where he could not relocate the important items to be used in first-aid kit. This shows how badly the authorities concerned are dealing with the functioning of the railway station. Despite being ‘A’ grade station of the northern Railways, toilets were in so bad condition that no one can even pass through them because of the pungent smell that comes out of them.
According to sources, an official order has been passed to maintain a proper display distinguishing between male and female washrooms but it can be seen that the order was not implemented accordingly. After visiting the canteen, the chairman strictly ordered to impose a proper and effective system while using utensils for vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items. However, the chairman also imposed Rs 5,000 as a penalty to the canteen care taker for vitiating the rules and regulations. Even after having so many CCTVs at the station, the chairman saw zero quality of CCTVs because they were not in functioning mode. The chairman immediately directed the officials concerened to look into the matter and make them function.
