Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has introduced the property smart cards for all its allottees for digitisation of records of properties under the CHB. The digitisation of the records will be completed by February-end, said CHB Chairman Maninder Singh Bains. The CHB has 64,000 registered dwelling units.
Bains said, “The Chandigarh Housing Board has launched digitisation of records of properties under its jurisdiction in a move aimed at scientific management of data and to provide immediate information to the public about their properties through an online portal.”
Bains added that the CHB shall digitise all information relating to properties under its jurisdiction and it shall issue property smart cards to the allottees or transferees on their applications for the same. “The property smart card which will contain details of the property and owner and is valid for five years. A unique property identification number shall be allotted and printed on the smart card. It is not mandatory, but it will be of great help, for the allottees can obtain detailed information with the use of the unique property identification number on the web portal of the CHB,” said Bains.
The card will provide the information with respect to the property details like its number, title, nature of property and encumbrance status, etc.
The identification number shall be allotted and printed on the property card.
The allottees or transferees can apply for issuance of a property card on the payment of a processing fee. Thus, there will be a unique property identification number for each property, along with details of ownership. This is a step towards providing better service to allottees and would facilitate all allottees to have details of property and ownership online as well as physically in the form of a property card.
