Chandigarh:Five days after joining the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR), new Chairperson Harjinder Kaur has proposed a child-friendly police station. The CCPCR has organised a multi-stakeholders’ meeting on the protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) on Friday.
The meeting chaired by Harjinder Kaur, along with members, Pramod Sharma and Prof Nishtha Jaswal, highlighted that there must be a single child police stationwhich wioll be an independent child-friendly one-stop police station for children that would facilitate formal as well as informal procedures relating to matters concerning children. It would also ensure speedy disposal of cases.
The members also discussed that to ensure the protection of every child, all department should come together.
The members felt that presently there was lack of coordination amongst various departments. The meeting also discussed the various issues pertaining to the protection of children in the city. Meanwhile, officials from various government departments, including District Legal Service Authority,
