Panchkula:Almost all government dispensaries in the city lack basic facilities despite tall claims of authorities. In the last few years Health Department has put efforts for improving essential facilities at dispensaries but still citizens feel deprived of primary health care in Panchkula.
There are a total of 14 dispensaries in Panchkula, one each in Sector 4, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12-A, 16, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, Sector 4 MDC (Mansa Devi Complex) and at premises of Mansa Devi temple.Of these some dispensaries have daily inflow of about 100 patients. Lily Bawa, MC councillor said, ‘’The building of Sector 12- A, dispensary is in bad shape and thus the patients face lot of inconvenience.”
Meanwhile, X-ray machines installed at Sector 16 and Sector 26 dispensaries are of no use as Health Department has till date failed to appoint any radiographer for the past one year.
Chief Medical Officer, Panchkula, Dr V K Bansal insists that Health Department has laid a lot of emphasis on improving the functioning of dispensaries by providing better infrastructure, adequate staff and medicines.
Dr Bansal said, “Some of the dispensaries still require attention and the department is working on overcoming the shortcomings related to infrastructure and staff.’’
Sector 12-A dispensary sports damp walls, broken window panes and filthy rooms which need urgent repair. An official claimed that the dispensary had an inflow of 100 patients daily and there is hardly any place where patients can sit while waiting for their turn. The building of urban slum dispensary in Sector 19 is also crying for immediate attention.
