Panchkula:Following infrastructural problems that prevailed at Civil Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula for the past many months, Haryana Director General Health Services has now taken notice of these issues. On Tuesday, DGHS Dr Parveen K Garg directed the officials to get all the issues pertaining to infrastructure and machinery resolved at the earliest.
Despite preparing an estimate of Rs 17 lakh for repair and maintenance work from surgery ward to operation theatre following roof leakage and other infrastructural requirements mentioned by the hospital management, the roofs in several wards were again seen leaking following heavy rainfall on Friday night.
Situation at Civil Hospital still seems miserable after crores of rupees were spent on its maintenance. Patients used to have a harrowing time tackling with roof leakage every time it rains. As Daily Post reported the same on January 9 in a news report ‘Management at Civil hospital fails in providing infrastructure’; DGHS following the same took action on Tuesday and asked for proper details and reports of the matter from Civil Surgeon.
DGHS Dr Parveen Garg said, ‘’As I came to know about these issues, I have directed the Civil Surgeon to take appropriate action in this regard and to get it maintained at the earliest. Also a file has been sent to the concerned officials following machinery requirement at the hospital.’’
Meanwhile, MLA Gian Chand Gupta had also written to Health Minister Anil Vij following failure of a machine and had sought inquiry in the matter. The Lone Phaco Machine at the hospital which was purchased in 2008 for conducting eye surgeries has been non-functional for more than a year.
Civil Surgeon Dr V K Bansal said, ‘’We have prepared an estimate and it has been forwarded to Police Housing Corporation who will carry out the work in this regard. Also a report has been sent following the Lone Phaco Machine to the concerned management and all the issues will be resolved soon.’’
