Chandigarh:This time the ticket distribution for MC elections has shown the rebel effect as after BJP and Congress, now rebels have raised their heads in Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) as well. On Sunday, some of the BSP supporters gheroed the house of BSP leader at Sector 35 and raised slogans against Jannat Jahan-ul-Haque.
The supporters alleged that they have been working for the BSP even before Jannat came in as party worker but today she is dictating the terms and ignoring them. They said that she was distributing the tickets to those who do not have any standing in the BSP.
While they raised slogans against Jannat,, her husband and BSP convener Hafiz Anwar-ul- Haque said, “It seems that madam has said something untoward as some of the supporters have become rebels and started raising slogans against BSP. They have gheroed our house also.” Anwar also added that they would have talks with the supporters and pacify them.
Rebels in Congress Party have already raised their heads prior to the official declaration of the candidates list by Congress. The candidates have declared to contest as independent. In Congress, Tarsem Mittal from ward number 18 (Sectors 27, 28 and 30) has declared to contest as independent candidate. Mittal said, “I have been religiously working in my ward as well as standing shoulder to shoulder with Congress leaders but at the nick of time, they have axed me out and denied the ticket. So I decided to contest elections independently and prove my worth by winning from my ward.”
Former incharge of colonies and BJP office-bearer Dalip Sharma, said, “Sanjay Tandon is acting as dictator and not deciding on the winnability factor. From ward number 19, he has declared the name of Raj Kishore who had already lost in previous elections and in 2006 he also lost to Sarita Sharma, one of my family members. Now I have decided to contest independently and along with me 900 active members have resigned from BJP.”
Another contender Shiv Kumar Sharma, aspiring to contest from ward number 18 said that he was shocked when name of Saurab Joshi was announced from the ward. “He is an outsider and never worked in ward number 18. We have been working religiously and now have been denied the ticket. Now I will contest as independent and will win to show that Sanjay Tandons anti BJP factions.”
Similarly Ashwani Kumar, who was seeking ticket from ward no 20 said, they have given ticket to á person who is not even known
in the sector. Sanjay Tandon has completely ignored our local leaders and has decided to contest independently.
