Chandigarh: Meenakshi Choudhary the Congress candidate from ward no 13 field her nomination papers with returning officer in Sector 18 on Tuesday. Accompanied by party workers and supporters, Meenakshi who is a former President of Chandigarh Mahila Congress reached at Sector 18 around 11 am and filed her nomination. She is contesting MC poll for the first time. After filing her papers she emphasized to work relentlessly for the welfare of the residents of Sector 49, 50, 51 and 63 falling under ward no 13.
She said that residents of societies in these sectors are paying all the taxes at par with the other sectors of the city. But they are being forced to pay for maintenance of roads, parks, sewerage and water supply systems, maintenance of electricity transformer, firefighting systems and payment of electricity and water supply bills that are being used on street light and irrigation of parks of the societies. She said the process of flat wise execution of conveyance deed would be started so that no one suffers because of bad intentions or limitations of other people.
There is no proper market in Society area particularly in Sector 50. Despite having around 1700 flats, the sector does not have even a single shop. She promised to set up a temporary market till the time arrangements for permanent market were done .
