Chandigarh: Two years have passed since a Chandigarh Police constable Reeta went missing and she continues to remain untraced till date. The case is being investigated by Haryana Police. According to reports, Reeta a constable posted with the Police Control Room (PCR), went missing on June 9, 2014.
What was the case?
The missing woman constable who joined the police force in 2014 had taken a casual leave on June 9, 2014 for two days to visit her hometown in Haryana following which she left the her duty on the afternoon of June 9 itself but she did not reach home. After Reeta went missing, the family members of Reeta alleged that another Constable, namely Ravinder, was involved in the matter. Ravinder was posted at police station Sector 19, Chandigarh.
Reeta’s family have also alleged that she was with Ravinder on June 7 and had gone out shopping where they both had a verbal spat. Sources said that Reeta did not have a permanent accommodation in the city and was reportedly living at her colleague’s rented accommodation at Manimajra. Meanwhile, acting on the complaint received from Reeta’s kin, the Chandigarh police have registered a case of kidnapping at Sector 17 police station against an unidentified person.
Case transferred to Panipat Police in August 2014
After a thorough investigation, when the Chandigarh Police found that the victim went missing from Haryana as her last mobile phone tower location was in Haryana, the case was then transferred to Haryana Police for investigation. The Haryana Police have booked Chandigarh Police constable Ravinder in the matter under sections of abduction but till date the case remains pending in the diary of Panipat Police and the woman constable is untraced.
