The Finance and Contracts Committee (F&CC) of Municipal Corporation to take the final call on various issues relating to the stalls to be put up during the festival season.
Putting up of cracker stalls, relaxing the norms of putting up table-chairs outside eateries and giving the nod to Plastic to fuel project are on agenda for the F&CC meeting to be held on Thursday.
Mayor Arun Sood said, “The F&CC meeting is slated for October 13 and some major decision are there on agenda.
The problems of the various traders regarding putting up of stalls till Dewali and relaxing the fee charged for putting up of table-chairs in verandas outside eateries will come up for decision. Also major decision to approve the Plastic to fuel project will also come up.”
The traders have been knocking the door of the MC demanded extension of the days for putting up stalls during the Dussehra and Dewali festival season. Anil Vohra president Chandigarh Beopar Mandal said, “We have demanded that MC must allow us to put up stalls till Dewali so that we may not have to remove the tents for just few days.
Secondly we have also asked for reduction of fee to put up table-chairs outside eateries in markets. Accepting our demands Mayor has assured to bring up the issue in next F&CC meeting for approval and deciding upon the rates for putting up stalls.”
Traders termed the decision of UT Administration for not allowing putting up cracker stalls outside shops as dictatorial.UT Administration has banned the putting up of crackers stalls in markets, footpaths and other congested places of city.
FIR’s will be registered against those found violating the orders. DC has designated three open spaces in city for crackers sellers to put uptheir stalls.The three places are in Sector 25 protest ground, Town Park in Manimajra and Apni Mandi ground in Sector 43.
