Chandigarh: The Chandigarh police taking a strict view on illicit liquor have arrested Lajpat, resident of Ramdarbar near Kabbadi Market, Hallo Majra, and recovered 308 quarters of country liquor from his possession. Following a routine check, the police during a naka checked the vehicle of the accused and found bottles of country liquor. A case has been registered under section 61-1-14 of Excise Act at Sector 31, Police station. However the accused was later bailed out.
One arrested under NDPS Act
Chandigarh: Chandigarh Police on Wednesday arrested a person as some intoxicants were found from his possession. The accused has been identified as Karan Kumar, a resident of Sector 25 D. According to the police officials, following a tip-off the accused was apprehended from Sector 39 and six gram of smack was recovered from his possession. A case under section 21 of NDPS Act has been registered in police station Sector 39 and the investigation of the case is in progress.
Motor Vehicle Theft
Chandigarh: Two cases following motor vehicle theft has been registered at Sector 39 and Maloya, police station on Wednesday. In the first case, the complainant, Shiv Kumar, a resident of Dhanas reported that his motor cycle has been stolen from Sector 37 as it was parked near a house. In the other case, complainant Raj Baweja, a resident of Nayagaon reported that someone has stolen his motorcycle from near his shop at village Daddu Majra. Case under section 379 of IPC has been registered in both the cases and the investigation of the case is in progress.
Chandigarh: A case of burglary has come to fore on Wednesday as some unidentified miscreants had stole some taps and scrap material from a plot in Industrial Area, Phase 2. Raj Kumar Chhabra, who owes the plot, reported the police that when he visited the plot on Wednesday, he found taps and other material from the plot stolen. The incident took place on night intervening December 19 and 20. A case has been registered at police station, sector 31 under section 457 and 380 of IPC.
Driver dies in road mishap after hit by PRTC bus
Zirakpur: The driver of a Innova car was killed after he was hit by a PRTC bus at Airport chowk on Patiala-Zirakpur highway in the early morning of Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Harjeet Singh(40), resident of Alawalisa village in Hoshiarpur district.
As per reports, he was a driver of Innova car. In the early morning, he stopped his vehicle near Airport chowk and standing outside the vehicle when became victim of a PRTC bus, moving towards Chandigarh from Patiala. Critically injured Harjit Singh was rushed to GMCH, Chandigarh where doctors declared him brought dead. Police have sent the body for post-mortem at Derabassi and arrested bus driver.
