Zirakpur: Zirakpur police have booked a director of Playway School, situated in Dhakoli, Zirakpur on charge of molesting a four-year-old girl. An FIR, has been registered on the complaint of victim’s parents. However, the director has termed these charges as false, being levelled by parents of the girl and offered to undergo a narco test in support of his claim.
As per reports, the victim complained to her parents about the pain in her private parts and narrated the incident, following which parents, later, consulted a doctor who told them that it was a case of ‘sexual abuse’ following which they lodged the complaint against the accused director. Zirakpur SHO Tarlochan Singh said the police had registered a case against the accused director under POSCO Act and started investigations.
One arrested with 5 gm heroin
Chandigarh: Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police on Tuesday arrested Nikhil Banwal of Sector 27-D with five gram Heroin. According to the officials, he was held near Radha Soami Satsang Bhawan, Sector 27, Chandigarh.
Police officials also stated that when asked the accused failed to produce license for possessing the contraband following which he was arrested. The accused has been booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Sector 26 police station.
Snatching incidents on the rise in city
Chandigarh: A motorbike-borne miscreant snatched the purse of Sector-40 resident on Tuesday. According to the police, Nisha Garg the victim was going to her house when the person on motorcycle coming from rear side snatched her purse and fled from the spot in Sector 40-C. According to cops the victim claimed that her purse contained Rs 1, 500 and other important documents.
Following the incident, victim immediately alerted the police but failed to trace the snatcher. A case under Sections 379 (Punishment for theft) and 356 (Assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Sector 39 police station, Chandigarh.
One dies in road mishap
Chandigarh: A 45-year-old scooter driver was killed on Wednesday mid-night after being allegedly hit by a tempo at the dividing of Sector 41, 42, while another victim suffered injuries in the accident. Police has arrested the tempo driver Jaipal, a native of Bloh village, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, who is currently residing in a rented accommodation at Sector 38. The deceased has been identified as Surinder, a native of Hamirpur who was driving Activa scooter when a tempo traveler collided in his vehicle following which the deceased and the other victim Santosh were dragged for 800 metre.
Following the accident, a passerby informed the police and the victims were rushed to PGIMER where the duty doctors declared Surinder brought dead while Santosh is undergoing treatment. Police sources alleged that the tempo driver was drunk and drove rashly. A case has been registered at Sector 39 police station under Sections 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304 (Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of Indian Penal Code.
Burglary at a house in Sector 52
Chandigarh: A burglar made off with gold jewellery and cash from a house in Sector 52 when the entire family was out of station, on Tuesday. Nishu, the victim told police that she along with her family had gone out and when they returned on Tuesday, they found the locks of each of the rooms, broken and things were scattered on the floor.
A case was registered against unknown persons under Section 457 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 380 (Theft in dwelling house) of Indian penal code (IPC) at the police station, sector 36.
One nabbed for withdrawing cash in fraudulent manner
Chandigarh: For allegedly withdrawing Rs 9,000 from a person’s account by exchanging ATM, UT Police has arrested a Sector 45 resident. The accused has been identified as Nikhil Thakur and according to police, Mandeep Kumar a resident of Dadu Majra Colony (DMC), Chandigarh alleged that Thakur withdrew Rs 9,000 from his account by exchanging his ATM card at SBI, ATM Machine, in Sector 17, on October 17. Later accused was caught by complainant near the spot. A case against the accused under Section 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Sector 17 police station and an investigation has been initiated.
Driver booked after recovering 12 cows from truck
Zirakpur: The Zirakpur police booked an unidentified person after recovering a truck loaded with 12 cows at Chhat village on Diwali eve. The accused has been booked under Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act.
According to the police, they received an information that a truck loaded with cows was parked somewhere near Chhat village. Following the information, the police rushed to the spot and recovered the truck. The police said that the rescued cows were meanwhile sent to the ‘gaushala’ at Lalru. A case under the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act has been registered at Zirakpur police station.DP
Man dies in road accident
Panchkula: A 25 year-old died following an accident at Sector 6 dividing near Command Hospital, Panchkula on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Vikram, a resident of Ramgarh who along with his colleague Umesh, also a resident of Ramgarh was on motorcycle.
According to police officials, the duo worked with marketing company and was on their way to Manimajra from Ramgarh and was hit by an Army truck near Command Hospital. DP
