Panchkula: A local court on Tuesday has acquitted realtor Davinder Gill alias Davinder Thapa in a rape case registered against him by his former associate, a 27 year old resident of Chandigarh.
Defence lawyer Terminder Singh told that Gill has been acquitted as the prosecutrix has given contradictory statement and as per record accused in April 2014 has filed writ petition before Punjab and Haryana High Court in which he has alleged threat to his life by Gautam Cheema Punjab Police IGP, Ajay Chaudhary and the court passed order and thereafter present FIR was registered in the month of July 2014.
The victim, in her complaint, had stated the police that she had first met Gill in 2008 further to which he sexually molested her after promising to marry her. After Gill refused to make good on his promise of marrying her, the victim approached the police and lodged the rape complaint following which Gill was booked on July 20 and arrested on August 2.
“That the call record of phone number of the prosecutrix and phone number of Chaudhary and Cheema prove that there was regular communication among them. That wife of the accused Gill has lodged FIR against prosecutrix and Cheema. And other FIR for extortion has been registered against the prosecutrix, Cheema and Chaudhary by the accused at Panchkula.DP
