Getting vital clues from the CCTV footage, the Chandigarh Police on Thursday claimed to have arrest seven youths including four juveniles for allegedly murdering a 19 years old youth here in at the market of Sector 25, Chandigarh on Wednesday evening. According to police, the accused have been identified as Kuldip alias Ashu (21), Vishal (18), Vikas (18) and four juveniles. A case under section 302 (murder) of the IPC has been registered at the Sector 11 police station. Meanwhile, the victim Vikas (19) was the only son of his parents. His father Tej Pal works with the sanitation department of the PGI. Ramgopal, DSP Central said “The accused have been apprehended from the jungle area of Sector 25 on Thursday. The accused are all residents of Sector 25, Chandigarh. The three were arrested and will be produced in the local court on Friday while four rest have been sent to juvenile home”.
A CCTV camera which was installed in the market, helped the Police majorly in cracking the case and the whole incident was captured in broad day light.

Ramgopal, DSP said that the old enmity with the accused youths led to the incident. The victim had entered into a brawl with the accused earlier as well, following which they planned to assault him on Wednesday evening.
The police said Vikas was in the market along with his two friends. When he about to leave, a youth started beating him. He tried to run away when a group of boy’s started chasing him within seconds and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons. The victim fell on the ground and he was stabbed in the neck, back and the head repeatedly. Some passer-by intervened but the attackers managed to flee, leaving the victim bleeding.
The Police have learnt that Vikas had entered into a brawl with the other group following which a cross case was registered against him. The police said Vikas returned home from jail a mere 15 days ago.
The family of the victim, Vikas, earlier held a protest in the morning on Thursday morning and blocked the road, demanding to arrest the accused. The kin of victim blocked the road for around 2 hours and demanded justice.
Following this, the Police intervened and the family was assured of arresting the accused youth and by evening the Police team arrested the accused from Sector 25.
