Chandigarh: The impact of demonetisation seems to be on the City thieves too as finding no value for the old currency, a gang of thieves stole away ‘Cashew Nuts’ worth Rupees 2 lakhs from a store at grain market Sector 26, on Sunday night. According to police, the complainant in the matter, Raju owner of a departmental store at grain market Sector 26 has stated to the Police that the thieves stole away Cashew nuts worth around Rs 2 lakhs by breaking the locks of the store.
The complainant has stated to police that he opened the shop on Monday, and when one of the worker went backside to the store, he found that the locks of the store were broken.The owner then informed the police immediately and during investigation, the police found that two boxes of cashew nuts were stolen. The owner has given a formal complaint to the Police and the Police team have initiated the investigation.
During further investigation, the Police team has learnt that the thieves took the boxes of cashew nuts loading them in a three wheeler which they might have brought them along.
