Chandigarh: Despite all the possible efforts, being made to curb the dengue menace, the number of dengue and chikungunya cases is on rising. Proving the fact that getting how still the health department is finding t difficult to get the control over the everyday increasing dengue and chikungunya cases in the city.
In a statement issued by the malaria wing of the UT health department on Sunday four cases of Dengue have been reported from various health institutions that bring the total number of Dengue cases to 836 in the city.
Meanwhile, with this, four cases of Chikungunya have been reported on Sunday, all from Chandigarh. The overall details of 234 cases of Chikungunya detected in Chandigarh is; 45 imported, 53 wrong address and 136 from Chandigarh.
While, every day, the department is trying to strengthen the preventive activities by doing daily fumigation is being carried out along with strengthening of field activities which includes mass awareness, checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources.
Besides, the free Dengue testing facility is available at Department of Virology, PGIMER Chandigarh, Department of Microbiology GMCH-32, GMSH-16 and District Priority Lab (IDSP) at Civil Hospital Manimajra.
